A Journey of Life: Navigating Cultural Differences between Indonesian and American Contexts

Abstract

In this Autoethnography, the researcher investigates a complex interaction between two cultures, Indonesian and American, with the aim of delving deeper into the researcher's personal experience of the cultural diversity of both cultures and exploring the complexities and diverse cultural landscapes and how these differences can be overcome. This autoethnography represents the way discovery of how I navigate the cultural clash between Indonesians and Americans contexts as the result of my experience working with American NGO for the first time. This autoethnography study narrates the story of how communication skills and cultural sensitivity hold  prior aspects to navigate the differences by reflecting on the experience.

Nurul Aini, UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri

Nurul Aini is an English teacher at Faculty of Tarbiyah, English Education, UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri, Indonesia. She holds a doctoral degree in the Department of English, Faculty of Letters, 
Universitas Negeri Malang (UM). Her research interest is in English teaching methodology and artificial intelligence in Education.  She is an active researcher and has already published some research articles in International reputable journals.
